On August 9, 2014, Michael Brown — an unarmed black teen — was shot and killed in Ferguson, Missouri, by a white police officer, Darren Wilson. Today, in the Salomon Center at Brown University, there will be a discussion of the recent events in Ferguson, through a panel discussion and Q&A from the audience. According to Brown.edu, the panelists include: Stefano Bloch, Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow, Urban Studies Program and Cogut Center for the Humanities; Anthony Bogues, director, Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice; Marcia Chatelain, assistant professor of history, Georgetown University; Richard Locke, director, Watson Institute for International Studies; James Morone, director, Taubman Center for Public Policy; Tricia Rose, director, Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America
